How to update the Marlin 3D printer firmware (Ender, etc.)

Open update page ↗
  1. Marlin is compiled per printer — you cannot flash a generic build.
  2. Start from the configuration files for your exact printer and board in the Configurations repository.
  3. Build with PlatformIO in VS Code, then flash over USB or by SD card depending on the board.
  4. Keep your current firmware image; a bad Marlin build can leave the printer unable to home safely.

Always download firmware from the manufacturer or project itself. Firmwarely links out; it never hosts firmware.
