Privacy policy

What we collect

Your email address when you subscribe, the device names you choose to tell us about, anything you send us through the support form, standard web server logs, and an anonymous count of which pages are read. If you buy Pro, Stripe collects your payment details; we never see your card number. We store the email you paid with and whether your subscription is active.

How we use it

To send you the firmware update emails you asked for, to answer you when you write to us, to manage your subscription, and to understand which devices people want tracked. We don't sell or rent your data.

Who we share it with

Beehiiv (subscriber list and newsletter delivery), Resend (sign-in links, device alerts and support messages), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting, sign-in API and page analytics), Cloudflare (the anti-spam check on our forms), and GitHub (where our data pipeline runs). Each is bound by its own privacy policy. We share only what's needed for them to do their job.

Your choices

Every email has an unsubscribe link. To delete your data entirely, email us and we'll remove it within 30 days. We set one cookie, only when you sign in, so you stay signed in for 30 days. Your device list is kept in your browser's local storage and, once you sign in, in your account.

How we count visits

We use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages people actually read, because we'd rather write about the devices you're looking for than guess. It sets no cookies and does not follow you to other sites. To avoid counting the same person twice in a day it derives a temporary identifier from your IP address and browser, which rotates daily and which we never see; what reaches us is the page, the referring site, the rough country, and the kind of device — never a name, an address, or a profile. There are no advertising trackers, and we sell nothing to anyone.

The check on our forms

Every form here runs Cloudflare Turnstile, which tells us whether a submission came from a person or a script. It is there because the alternative is a contact inbox and a mailing list full of bot signups. Cloudflare sees your IP address and some signals about your browser to make that call, and we receive only its yes or no — never a profile of you. Turnstile is designed not to track you across sites and, unlike the usual image puzzles, usually asks you to do nothing at all.

Terms of service

What Firmwarely is

An information service that watches manufacturers' public release pages and tells you what changed. It is not affiliated with any manufacturer. Device and brand names belong to their owners.

What it isn't

We don't distribute firmware, and we can't guarantee we catch every release or that release notes are accurate — manufacturers change their pages without notice. Always download firmware from the official source and read the manufacturer's notes before installing. You're responsible for updates you apply to your own devices.

Pro subscription

Pro is billed monthly through Stripe and renews automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from the link in your receipt; you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. If you're unhappy in the first 30 days, email us for a full refund.

Liability

The service is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any loss arising from use of the service, including from firmware updates you choose to install or not install. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the previous 12 months.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
